Firstly, the intention behind this post is to test out NB's new alt Reddit forum. So far, so good. Signing up was easy enough and the UI is sweet and simple.
Secondly, I'm signaling that I have personally invested in goldshell's new and not-even-out-yet ASICs because I'm doubling down on my bet that Handshake will eat the decentralized naming market within the next 2 years, and the traditional ICANN-backed market within the next 10.
Thirdly, Coinbase has explicitly said that they would list Handshake after network hashpower has exceeded a certain (unspecified) threshold. Therefore, the hashpower I will contribute—tantamount to 1-3% of the network hashpower at current difficulty levels—should directly affect listing decisions by major US exchanges.
Lastly, I'm tired of all the misguided fud from wave after wave of newcomers that emerge with every bull market who, without fail, raises the "proof of work is harmful to the environment" question without ever knowing what Infura is or how PoW, the sybil-resistance mechanism, is distinct from the the energy costs of syncing full nodes from scratch. (This is a much deeper discussion just on its own.) I deeply care about the environment yet can refute the claims about PoW being "wasteful", and therefore can sleep soundly at night while I mine HNS.

I bought 50 goldshell hs5 units to contribute hashpower to HNS. AMA

well then I owe you a thank you for committing capital to secure the network ;) Oh well I guess I never said thank you either for getting me into Handshake with one of your threads on twitter back in July while I was actually following you for some Cosmos education. I wasn't aware of that statement by CB, if you have a source to that I'd be really interested !
I guess that you have already mined before at some scale ? because 50 new machines is big commitment !
and like a sage once said:
You win by wasting the abundant and saving the scarce.
Happy mining !
You're absolutely welcome! Now you can pass it on :)
The conversation with CB was relayed between various people who were talking to them and one of the requirements, besides passing their extensive securities laws review, was a) more network hashpower, b) Ledger integration, and c) more community signaling (this wasn't from CB from Binance). I figured that I could personally contribute to a and facilitate c through efforts pushed by the dWeb Foundation.
I've never scaled up a mining op quite at this scale before, but this is something I intend to continue to scale as newer, faster, better ASICs enter the market.
really awesome, you will do this in residential or commercial ?
Commercially
I didn't know about the hash power requirement. Do you have a specific number for that? I think we can get the community to rally around increasing hashpower if that's all that's needed for listing
They didn't specify any particular threshold. The operative word was "more". Getting the community to rally around this would totally help Handshake get listed. See my notes from an above thread about the other things that have been requested from exchanges.
Fucking legend! So rad of you.
Are you setting these up in a residential facility?
No, setting it up commercially with the ability to scale
Holy cow this is fantastic, mega-props to you for leading the charge here and thank you so much for sharing this valuable effort with everyone!
Were there any specific resources you used to help set-up your Goldshell mining rigs?
P.S. I just love the connection between your bike emoji and your deep care for the environment :)
Having connections in China kinda helps with the setup :>
👻/
for gifting me my 🚲/—second best bike in the world, right after my fixie
I need to thank
☺️
I have a few Goldshell machines, really good guys over there :)
Amazing, Would love to see this once up and running, the first HNS commercial mining OP. You are making History! Is the OP going to be located in LV or overseas?
Will be overseas!
Goldshell is only distributor?
I also want to expand my HNS farm
I wanted to circle back on this - how are things going with your venture?
