When Google DNS and Cloudflare DNS will support Handshake DNS?

tieshun.namebase/
0 points

Afaik no one is actively working on getting Google and Cloudflare support. We're primarily focused on browser support first (Brave), and in the meantime there's hdns.io.

Are there plans to add the ability to send messages when making/receiving offers/bids on owned names?

liz.namebase/
0 points

We're considering it, but it's complicated to implement in a safe and productive way. I understand the benefits to being able to chat, but it also opens the door to becoming an abusive channel. We're thinking through safeguards, so let us know if you have any thoughts on it, but it's still very much in the idea stage.

how about preset messages

Hw about an option for sender to approve sharing email address so the recipient of offer can get in touch to negotiate?

What's the plan for 2021, priorities vs. blue sky?

tieshun.namebase/

Improve core product experience (USD for everyone, more marketplace features, better onboarding), make it easier/more profitable for name owners to monetize their names, and support ecosystem growth (browser integrations, developer adoption).

Who created the web app that creates dLinks?

liz.namebase/

I designed it,

kos.namebase/
did the front end, and
anthony.namebase/
did the back end.

Is there a space we could have a chat about the possibility of developing something very similar to dLinks for handshake sites. ideally, this would be something available to add to your site via namebase just like a dLink.

"Domain manager > For sale > Subdomain registry" seems not functional. How to start selling subdomains?

johnny.namebase/

After entering 2 price points and hitting 'Next', the following page doesn't display the subdomain and renewal price in 'Please review your pricing'. There's no way to proceed from there.

When API for retrieving the list of user's domains be available?

anthony.namebase/
1 points

There currently aren't any explicitly supported endpoints in our v0 API that allow you to retrieve this information. However, you could use the internal API that our front-end uses to fetch your domains. You can find these requests, which follow a pretty simple format, by going to

and inspecting your network tab as the page loads.

Anyone can now stake their names of subdomain selling!

perrystevens/

No, Tried to stake for 3 days without joy.

johnny.namebase/

Hmm weird, could you share a screen recording as you attempt to stake your name? Please also make sure the blockchain DNS records for your name are pointed to Namebase's nameservers

Hmm try doing "sellabusiness" instead of "sellabusiness/"

perrystevens/

I tried "businesssales" instead of"businesssales/" but got the same results.

perrystevens/

I also tried another TLD I own

beantobar/
with and without the "/". Unfortunately, I still get the same exact result.

I know it's planned. But how likely is it that we'll see an affiliate program for domain sales on NB this year? Talking about this:

I second this question.

tieshun.namebase/

We just talked about this today! Likely very soon but hard to give an exact estimate. Do you have any ideas for how you’d like the affiliate program to work?

dashen/
1 points

I don't know about

0xstefan/
but my own expectations were something like this.

Bob is a content creator with a youtube channel, Bob wants to monetize the channel with an affiliate program. Bob signs up for the Namebase Affiliate program where he gains access to a dashboard with traffic and sales information.

Within his dashboard is his personal affiliate URL code and a URL builder such that Bob can send people to any page within his strategy and if a sale occurs then Bob receives a small percentage fee.

The tricky question is cookie time, I would lean towards 30 days with a last click attribution. Last Click attribution means that the last affiliate URL code before the purchase is attributed to the sale.

I don't believe pure sign ups should be rewarded by an affiliate program. Just sales.

I believe an affiliate program can bring content creators over to handshake by giving them an opportunity to make money from promoting domain sales. All those content creators bring trust and followers which will achieve community growth goals.

0xstefan/

Yes! Exactly what I was thinking! Great post dashen

At the moment it makes no sense to promote domains that you don't own yourself. (From a monetary perspective)

With a program like that this would change. Now it would make sense for everyone to promote domains like

league/
music/
dex/
job/

Summary:
- No rewards for signups. Only for sales
- 30 days with a last click attribution sounds great
- The affiliate amount should be a small percentage of the actual sale price
- HNS amount should be paid immediately when the sale happens
- No need for a detailed dashboard in the beginning

dashen/
and
0stefan/
when you say sales do you mean TLD sales, subdomain sales, or both? And is this something y'all would use yourselves or is this something you expect content creators to use?

0xstefan/
1 points

Hey

tieshun.namebase/

I meant TLD sales. Have not thought about subdomain sales. Could be something interesting in the future. For now TLD sales would be enough I think.

I would use it myself and to be completely honest:
It would be the best way to get some revenue in for
niami/
IMO
It's a win-win-win for all participants.
namebase/
would get potentially more TLD sales. Future premium services within
niami/
could be offered free of charge. Plus I would be able to cover server costs and grow the site without outside funding.

But I also really believe that it could be a very interesting strategy to get content creators (plus old and new domain marketers) to advertise HNS TLDs. Even if they don't own that name.

tieshun.namebase/
Sorry for checking in so late, i didn't get the notification on my phone.

Like
0xstefan/
i think of this as a way to incentivize content creators. TLD sales should be enough, if it looks like TLD sales arent enough, adjustments can be made for SLD sales.

tieshun.namebase/
1 points

Awesome. I'm thinking we do a referral program that works like this:
- anytime someone signs up with your referral link, you'll earn 50% commission on any TLD they buy or sell in the marketplace for 1 year
- if someone signs up after you gift them a name, you'll automatically get the referral commission as well.

dashen/
0xstefan/
what do you think?

dashen/
1 points

I love it!

0xstefan/
1 points

Something I learned during Handycon:
One of the bigger risks for the longterm success of Handshake is, that early adopters try to make money off of brand names (companies, social media folks, etc.).

Therefore I really like the strategy with commissions for gifting names. That's a smart strategy and could be THE solution!

Therefore 100% support from my side. 🤝

liz.namebase/I hope to communicate with the seller through Namebase. Do you have any plan in this regard

liz.namebase/

See my comment above, but in short, we’re thinking through it. It’s still in ideation phase and we want to make sure it doesn’t become an annoying or hostile environment.

hnsfans/

johnny.namebase/Will the domain name purchased be owned forever? Is there any other cost

paulwebb/

There is a renewal fee that's just a couple cents right now. Renewals happen every two years, automatically, as long as your names are on Namebase.

liz.namebase/Or can I auction my domain name is not for sale

liz.namebase/

This is definitely in the roadmap and we want to work on auctions as a new listing type. The style of auction is still TBD. Handshake (and blockchains in general) are already difficult concepts and we don’t want to add yet another thing that needs to be explained, so we’ll see where we land.
